Bringing your dog to the groomer for the first time can feel like a big step—for you and your pup! Whether you’ve got a playful puppy or a rescue who’s never had a bath, we’re here to make it a pawsitive experience.
Before the Appointment
- Take your dog for a short walk (a tired pup = a relaxed pup).
- Bring any vet or health info we should know about.
- Pack a comfort item if your dog gets anxious (a toy, blanket, or treat).
- Try not to transfer any nervous energy—your pup picks up on it!
What Happens During the Groom?
Here’s our typical flow for first-timers:
- Check-in Chat: We’ll go over coat condition, health concerns, and haircut preferences.
- Gentle Bath: Using warm water and dog-safe shampoos, followed by a blow dry.
- Brushing & De-shedding: Especially important for long-haired breeds.
- Nail Trim & Ear Cleaning: Often overlooked—but essential!
- Light Trim or Tidy-Up: Based on your pup’s coat and comfort level.
We take things slow. If your pup seems unsure, we’ll adjust the pace and build trust.
After the Visit
- Your dog may be a little tired or extra spunky—grooming is stimulating!
- Give them a chance to rest and have water once they get home.
- Celebrate with a treat and lots of praise!
Got questions? We’re happy to answer them before, during, or after your visit.
